Learning and Outreach
At History Stories, we bring the past to life in the classroom! Our history outreach sessions are designed to engage students with stories of real people from history, tailored to fit the curriculum and inspire curiosity about the past. We focus on creating interactive and immersive learning experiences that make history both fun and meaningful.
Each session dives into a specific historical period or theme, guided by the archaeological evidence found in and around the South Downs. We offer students the opportunity to not only learn about history but also to experience it first hand through a range of historical crafts. These hands-on activities are inspired by real artifacts and archaeological discoveries, helping students connect with the past in a tangible and creative way.
From making pottery like ancient craftspeople to weaving like early settlers, our activities are designed to spark curiosity and build skills. Our sessions encourage students to explore how people in the past lived, worked, and created, deepening their understanding of the history around them.
Let History Stories bring history alive for your students through our engaging outreach sessions and craft-based learning experiences. Contact us to find out how we can tailor a session to meet your school's needs!
Engagement
Loan Boxes
We offer a range of inspirational Loans Boxes for schools and groups to borrow allowing pupils to get up close to real and replica artefacts.
The boxes contain information sheets, a selection of suggested learning activities (including printable worksheets/other materials) relevant to the period of history/objects in the loan box and, where possible, links to online 3d versions of relevant objects so they can be explored digitally.
The boxes also feature a short film accessed online to explore the relevant bit of history.
A live but remote Q&A session for approx. 30 mins on Microsoft Teams, Google Meet or similar so the children can ask any follow up questions can be arranged at a time to suit you.
The loan period will run for 1 week at a time (multiple weeks can be booked). A charge of £50 will apply for the loan box, learning activities and short film with an extra £20 for each Q&A session.
Talks and Presentations
We also offer talks and presentations for groups and societies exploring some of the stories uncovered in the Eastbourne area and through our project work
Some of our talks are outlined here but if there's a specific subject you'd like, contact us for more information and to book.
